Are You Ready for Some Football?

Calling all football players and their parents -  it's time to meet the coaches for the upcoming season!  Meet the Coaches Day is set for July 31st from 11AM to 1PM at Chiefs field.  There are some significant changes in league rules this year, for players AND spectators, and new coaches also are joining our organization.  Meet the coaches and get your questions answered!

A note to all players new to the Chiefs, and their parents - use the time from 1st practice to Contract Day to evaluate the Chiefs and determine if this is the right organization for you.  There is no commitment or cost to you until the 2010 Contract is signed!

First practice is the Monday following Meet the Coaches and the first practice in pads is August 16th.

Some New Rules

There are some significant new rules being implemented this coming football season so PLEASE be aware.  They Include:

• The weight limit for ball carriers in the 12 year old group has been raised to 145 pounds.

• The league has gone to pure age groups.  That means the age a player achieves as of August 1st determines to which team they are assigned.  And if there are too few players in an age group players have to move UP to the next age group, not down.

• Horse collar tackles are now illegal.  (Took long enough for this one, huh?)

There is also a new rule for fans and players alike - no sunflower seeds are allowed on any field or in the stands.  The shells apparently cause major damage to the new turf and schools have imposed the ban.  IF THE RULE IN NOT FOLLOWED WE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE THE SCHOOL FIELDS!!!  'Nuf said...
